Dear Dharma friends,
Monday, 7/16 Chokhor Duchen is one of the four main Buddhist holy days and commemorates the day Skakyamuni Buddha gave his first teaching. It is considered a “multiplier” day meaning our thoughts, words and deeds are 100,000 times more powerful on this day. Although our center isn’t open today, if possible, do extra practice at home and please be extra vigilant in your thoughts speech and actions.

It is a common experience when watching the news on the TV or computer screen to feel that all the suffering we see is being transmitted to us, making us suffer ourselves. Our response is often to shut down. …The damage is not done by the news of suffering. The real damage is done by our own hardening of heart to that suffering.
